Getting to know Alexis Atkins

Alexis Atkins is a shooting guard for the North Stanly Comets playing in her junior season. Alexis is a phenomenal combo guard who averaged 12 points, 3 assists, 7 rebounds and 8 steals per game while leading her team to a 26-3 record in the 2006/07 season with North Stanly. Scout.com got a chance to catch up with Alexis over the weekend and here's the report.

Q:) What were your 2006/07 season statistics?
Alexis:) "I averaged 12 points, 3 assists, 7 rebounds and 8 steals per game."

Q:) Did you have any goals set before the 2007/08 season? If so, what were they and do you think you are meeting them?
Alexis:) "I wanted to have a successful season and hopefully be the conference champs. So far yes, I do think we're meeting them."

Q:) What was your teams' record last year?
Alexis:) "Our Comets were 26-3."

Q:) Which colleges are you looking into?
Alexis:) "It's currently open, some colleges are interested. I'm looking at Tennessee, UNC-G, UNC-C, UNC, Maryland, UConn, NC state, LSU, Wingate and Rutgers University. I do welcome all offers"

Q:) Do you currently have any offers, if so who?
Alexis:) "None at the moment."

Q:) When do you hope to have a decision?
Alexis:) "I hope to get it out of the way by the end of my senior season."

Q:) Do you feel you have any areas for improvement if so what are they?
Alexis:) "Yes, there is always areas of improvement. I would like to improve on my FT%, be more consistent on my jump shots and decision making."

Q:) Are there any summer camps or AAU teams you're playing on this summer?
Alexis:) "Yes; I play with the AAU/USBA team, Stanly County Slammers."

Q:) Have you taken the SAT yet? What is your current GPA?
Alexis:) "No, not yet. I plan to take it sometime this spring. Currently, my GPA is around 3.2."

Q:) What are your current stats and through how many games?
Alexis:) Season totals were points avg 13.4 per game rebounds 5.4 per game assists 2.0 per game steals 2.4 per game 23 total blocks this year.

Q:) What is your current height/weight?
Alexis:) "My height is 5'7" and I weigh 138 lbs."

Alexis was 2006 JV MVP, 2007 offensive MVP and 2007 Rocky River All-Conference.
